Mommy and Me Swim Lessons

At the end of June Jenna and I took a Mommy and Me swimming class at our local pool. It was a lot of fun. Jenna wasn't too keen on getting her face wet or being dunked under the water at first, but by the end of the two weeks she would tolerate it. She learned to go on her belly and her back, kick her legs, blow bubbles, jump into the water, crawl along the edge, do scoop arms and swish arms, and to have fun! Her favorite part of it all was being able to watch all the other little kids in her class.

Mama and Jenna

Crawling along the wall.

Holding on all by herself!

Practicing blowing bubbles

It was only the last couple days of class that Jenna would put her face in the water to blow bubbles. She loved it once she actually tried it! Now she's a pro!

Jumping in!
(This was Jenna's other favorite thing to do in class!)

More jumping!

1, 2, 3, Jump!
Jenna learned that she wasn't to jump until I said the word 'jump'. That was her cue to know that I was ready and it was safe to jump in.
(Nice farmer's tan, I know! That's what happens when you spend a week straight doing yard work!)

Got her face wet!

Ring-a-Round the Rosies was the song we used to practice going underwater.

Jenna loved playing with the sink or float toys.

So happy!
Love that smile!

I'm so glad that we did this class! We learned lots of fun songs to sing in the pool (and bathtub) to help practice some of the things we learned. We have been swimming a few more times this summer and Jenna LOVES being in the water. I think doing swim lessons helped her get over her fear of getting in a pool. She has no problem now getting her face wet or going under the water!
