January 14, 1917 - September 24, 2011
My grandma Summerhays passed away on September 24th, 2011. Although I am sad to not have her here any longer, her passing was a good thing. I don't imagine it was easy being 94 years old and ailing. She always seemed to have bright spirits though, and loved to have visits from family.
I cherish the relationship I had and shared with her. I know she loved me dearly and always told me that I , besides my dad, was the most beautiful baby she'd ever seen. Every time I'd see her she'd tell this to me as if it was that first time she'd said it. One time though to keep me humble, she added, "what happened?" She laughed and laughed. She thought she was pretty funny.
I'll never forget the week I spent with her my Sophmore year of high school for my Spring Break. She got me to eat broccoli, we stayed up late watching old movies and talking. I still can't believe she was 80 then. She taught me how to drive that week too. I am the driver I am today because of her! Ha ha.
She was and still is an amazing woman!
I love you, Grandma.
